The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Finance Research Institute and the Tsinghua University Global Co-development Institute jointly organized the "Hong Kong Financial Market Development Forum" to bring together leaders and experts from the political, business and academic circles to explore the development opportunities and space of Hong Kong under the new situation. The two sides also launched the theme cooperation project "Challenges and Opportunities for the Development of Hong Kong's Financial Market" at the meeting, aiming to provide solid theoretical support and policy suggestions for the development of Hong Kong's financial market, build a bridge for efficient dialogue between policies and markets, help Hong Kong consolidate and enhance its position as an international financial center, further attract global capital and institutions to gather, and provide a strategic fulcrum for the country's financial opening and the construction of a financial power.
Under the influence of multiple factors such as changes in the geopolitical situation, Hong Kong's financial market is facing an increasingly complex international environment. The forum invited experts from policy makers, regulators, industry and academic circles to conduct in-depth discussions on opportunities and challenges in Hong Kong's financial market. Mr. Qi Bin, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, Mr. Huang Tianyou, Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission, and Mr. Li Jiange, Chairman of the Sun Yefang Economic Science Foundation, delivered keynote speeches at the meeting.

The first roundtable forum session focused on attracting more high-quality companies to raise funds in Hong Kong. It was chaired by Professor Chen Jiaqiang, Chairman of WeLab Bank, former Director of the Hong Kong Treasury Bureau, and former Dean of the School of Business of University of Science and Technology. The speakers included Mr. Li Xiaojia, founder of Drip Irrigation and Tuotong Macau Financial Assets Exchange, Mr. Chen Peng, founder of Water Drip Irrigation Group, Mr. Li Chunbo, Executive Committee Member of CITIC Securities Co., Ltd. and Chairman and CEO of CITIC Lyon, and Mr. Li Jingzhi, CEO of Deutsche Bank Hong Kong and Chairman of Deutsche Bank Asia Investment Bank.
Another roundtable forum session explores how to attract diversified investors to participate in the Hong Kong financial market. It was chaired by Professor Yu Jianfeng, Chair Professor of the Wudaokou School of Finance and Vice Dean of the Institute of Financial Technology. Participants include Mr. Huang Haizhou, a member of the Central Bank's Monetary Committee, former managing director of CICC and a member of the company's management committee, Mr. Xu Jingwei, Managing Director of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Head of Global Listing Services Department, Ms. Zhu Yue, managing partner and chief investment officer of Nanfeng Group Asset Management Company, and Mr. Zhang Anyuan, chief economist of Sequoia China.
Representatives from the cooperative projects, including Professor Guo Yike, Chief Vice President of the University of Science and Technology, Professor Bai Chongen, Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University and Dean of the Global Co-development Institute, Professor Lou Dong, Dean of the Institute of Finance of the University of Science and Technology and Vice President of the School of Business, and Professor Jin Keyu, Director of the Center for Geoeconomics of the University of Science and Technology Finance, also delivered speeches at the meeting.
Professor Guo Yike, Chief Vice President of the University of Science and Technology, said: "Hong Kong is accelerating its future as a science and technology financial center. With the return of Chinese-funded enterprises and the rise of emerging technology companies, Hong Kong is expected to become the first choice for global high-tech companies to go public, giving capital wings to scientific and technological innovation and leading the technological wave of the new era."
Professor Bai Chongen, Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University and Dean of the Global Co-development Institute, said: "Hong Kong and the mainland financial system complement each other's advantages and develop together. Hong Kong should give full play to its international and market-oriented characteristics and accurately match the national financial strategic needs. In the fields of RMB internationalization and capital project opening, Hong Kong can become an important hub. At the same time, Hong Kong needs to actively integrate into the overall national development situation, not only consolidate its position as an international financial center, but also provide key support for the construction of a country's financial power."
Professor Lou Dong, Dean of the Financial Research Institute of University of Science and Technology and Vice Dean of the School of Business, said: "The Hong Kong financial market is at a critical node of multiple equilibrium, and challenges and opportunities coexist. The future of the Hong Kong financial market lies in whether it can establish a positive feedback mechanism to attract more capital inflows and high-quality companies to go public, so as to stand out on the international financial stage, become an important platform for the internationalization of the RMB and a key hub for the global financial market."
Professor Jin Keyu, director of the Geoeconomic Center of the Institute of Finance of the University of Science and Technology, said: "Hong Kong's financial market is a bridge connecting the East and the West, and a key node in global capital flows. Under the new trend of geoeconomics, Hong Kong's opportunity lies in whether it can become a pioneer of diversification strategy, transform challenges into motivation for innovation, and transform risks into opportunities for development."
