The Hong Kong Airport Authority welcomes the announcement of the "Southbound Yue vehicle" policy by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today. To facilitate the "Southbound Yue vehicle", two automated parking lots, located in the restricted area of the Port Island of the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, which is built and operated by the Airport Authority, will be put into service in stages from November this year.
The "Transfer Parking Lot", which was put into operation in November, initially provides about 1,800 parking spaces. The parking lot adopts fully automated operation. Transfer passengers coming from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge can park their vehicles at the designated locations of the parking lot and do not need to park them themselves. They can then transfer to the shuttle vehicles operated by the Airport Authority, directly enter the airport restricted area for check-in procedures and board the plane, without having to go through the procedures for entering and leaving Hong Kong.
In the next phase, the AIA plans to open the "Visit Hong Kong Parking Lot" in the first half of next year, to facilitate the travel of inbound passengers to the facilities in Airport City, such as the Asia International Exhibition and SKYTOPIA projects that will be launched one after another in the future, as well as other areas of Hong Kong.
The Airport Authority's Chief Executive, Zhang Lijuan, welcomed the implementation of the "Yueche Nanxi" policy by the governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong. She stated, "We would like to thank the Central Authorities, the Guangdong Provincial Government, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government for launching the 'Yueche Nanxi' policy and for their strong support for our Hong Kong Port negóotomatic parking garage project. As the international aviation hub in the Greater Bay Area, we have always provided multi-modal transportation services for passengers, including cross-border bus, car, and fast boat services. The 'Transfer Parking Lot' makes full use of the convenience provided by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, offering an additional option for passengers in the Greater Bay Area to drive to Hong Kong and take flights to destinations around the world. The 'Visit Hong Kong Parking Lot' facilitates inbound passengers to access the airport's urban facilities and helps promote Hong Kong's tourism industry."
The Airport Authority is conducting system testing and drills, and is formulating the booking and usage rules for the parking lots. The details of usage will be announced in due course.
